2017. A marketing manager at a mid-sized running event company in the UK sent us her first enquiry. She had never ordered from a Chinese manufacturer before. Her email was three pages long — full of questions about quality, fire certification, and what happens if the arch doesn't arrive on time.
She apologised at the end: "I know this is a lot of questions. But this is our flagship race and the arch is the centrepiece. I just want to know it will be right."
Our team read every line. Then we walked onto the production floor with one instruction:
"Make it like it's ours."
The arch arrived five days before race day. She had it inflated in the car park to test it. Then she sent us a photo — 3,000 runners crossing the finish line under it, with our team's name printed in the corner of the shot she took herself.
